New motherboard... help?
My computer used to suck - so I bought a new motherboard + processor. My question is, when I install them will I have to reformat my harddrive? Right now I have two - will I have to reformat both? Planning on spending tomorrow getting everything up and running, but wanted to know the best way to keep the files I need to save.
Thanks a lot. |

Re: New motherboard... help?
I usually don't and have gotten away with it.
Best option is to do a clean install. Other options include removing everything Device Manager -> System Devices before you shut down, or reinstalling WinXP over the existing OS (aka "repair"). |

Re: New motherboard... help?
No.
You should just be able to swap. However, if you want to do it the "right" way, you just uninstall all MB-related drivers before swapping. This is a question someone who is swapping a MB out shouldn't have to ask. |

Re: New motherboard... help?
amazing one here, he apparently ACTUALLY GOOGLED the term and found a guide and used it (he pm'd me to say it worked). no "what's sysprep?" or any such thing.
