Default KQs on the button....cold calls.....

Basic stuff here......what is my play preflop and on the flop?

Preflop: Hero is Button with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, CO calls, Hero calls, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>.

UTG is solid and has fairly tight raising standards. How is the cold call? CO is a big knuckle head on tilt. Does that make 3-betting an option? How would you play QJs and JTs here?

Flop: (7.50 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG bets</font>, CO folds, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG 3-bets</font>, Hero calls.

Hows the flop play?? I thought about capping it - but I put him on AK or AA right here. Mabye KQ? Thoughts on this read and the flop play?

Yes, quite a bit. Raising is asking to be 3-bet or check/folded to on the turn. If you're ahead you'd rather draw it out and collect some more bets, and if you're behind you have lots of outs to improve in a medium sized pot.

And then call UI on the turn and river?

Let me see if I can follow this. If he raised preflop with TT, JJ, or QQ. I dont want him to stop firing. A flop raise will likley slow him down when I am far ahead and he is drawing to 2 outs. He might bet both the turn and river with QQ.

If he raised preflop with AA or AK - then I am behind and drawing to 12 outs. That gives me about a 45% of winning the pot after the flop vs. AA or AK. It looks like a raise and the "danger" of being 3-bet is costing me very little here. What am I missing?

He's probably going to keep firing either way if you just call, and if you are behind you have a good chance of winning. If you slow him down with the 3-bet you don't win as much and don't take advantage of your ability to improve and win more chips.
