So you got a guy who raised and called your 3-bet preflop betting raising at every opportunity on a 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] flop and a completely blank 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] turn.

After you capped the flop, he still led into you on the turn. Did you ever stop to try to put him on a hand against which you should continue raising?

It's not that hard to type it up by hand. You don't need to include all the fancy colors and all of that stuff. It's good to help you slow down and think through the hand and you'll get more responses.

Here are some examples:

Hand 1

Hand 2

Guess reads would have helped. This guy was very loose and practically wild. He would raise at any opportunity with low pair or less. The all-spade flop means fold to the raise, or go into check/call mode?

Just make sure a bet goes in on every street. If he checks turn or river value bet your hand, but after the flop action you don't need to put in any raises.

Good advice. The range of hands I put him on were the obvious ones (AA-TT, with JJ being a vastly remote possibility) and the standard AKs, AKo, and then on down to Ax... hell even Kx for this guy.

I beat most of those, but I'm not the best hand reader out there.. in fact I probably suck at it more than the average player.

If he's going to reraise kx out of the BB in a non blind defense situation that is something you need to put in your orig posts as part of your read.

Given the range you think he would raise preflop though, how many of these are calling your flop cap and still betting out on the blank turn card? I don't think you are a favorite against the range he bets out on the turn after the flop action. Honestly, you probably aren't ahead of his range if you call his flop 3 bet and he bets out on the turn unless he's a huge donk.

Given his preflop play and flop 3 bet the things you are ahead of are:

KQ/Ak/AQ with a spade and TT. After your flop cap any of those betting out on the turn except TT is a huge donkbet. If he's capable of bets that bad let him do it; but don't try and lose more when you are behind.

Now, if this guy is a real maniac, and he's going to play this way with any spade, any pair, any two overcards, etc. Go ahead and spell that out and get your extra bet or two in. I'd be much more inclined to go to war with a maniac if you at least had the J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] though.

Yep. You're right.. I see the logic in your statements. Thanks for the advice.

For those of you who are results-oriented, he showed down 7d9c for top pair on the flop.

The next thing I did was add him to my buddy list.
