Got a tight player right where i want him. good line?
Party Poker Pot-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Villians stats are 27%VPIP 5%PFR over about 180 hands. His reraise from the BB is VERY likely to be AA/KK/QQ. Since he raises only 25 more easy call. Flop: ($93) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets $55, BB raises to $110, Hero calls $55. I bet out after he checks to get more money into the pot. I think that his might get scared by the 3rd raise, so i just call. Turn: ($313) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero checks. River: ($313) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets $100, Hero raises to $325, BB calls $225. Final Pot: $963 Did i extract the most out of him? It took him a while to call, but he does in the end. Maybe shoulda gone with a full pot reraise to fake the bluff? Looking back on it the 325 seems like a dead give away that it is a valuebet. Since was almost never in a significant pot, i didn't know how he was going to react to what i did so i took a cautious line, trying to extract as many chips as possible without losing him. Anyone go more aggressive? |

Re: Got a tight player right where i want him. good line?
You did good to get as much money out of a tight player as you did, if he's anything like the tight players I'm used to. Many tight players will fold Aces to significant strength (ie a reraise all in) on an uncordianated flop.
Even somewhat tight players will easily relinquish Aces to a possible tripped board, especially with the Ten being a card many players play. I don't know what more you want. I probably would have never feigned weakness in the hand and kept up with potsized bets on each street, but probably you would've lost your fish that way. David |

Re: Got a tight player right where i want him. good line?
Man you gotta love the donks who effectively minraise out of position preflop and narrow their hand range down to at most five hands for you, don't ya?
Part of me thinks that a tight player isn't stacking off here, but another part of me agrees w/ you that 325 feels just like a value bet. Two alternate lines I see. I think villain must have put you on busted clubs to call you down here, and busted clubs would likely go all in on the river, right? There's one idea. Another would be to push the flop after his minraise, which again, would probably look a lot more like clubs than it would a ten. But I think you did pretty well to get what you did out of him. |
