fierce argument about my friends meekly played AK
My friend was playing a 2-4 game at prima and raises to 16 w AKsuited utg CO calls and BB calls.
flop comes k [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (50$) BB check, friend bet 28, CO folds and BB calls Turn a J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and BB checks and my friend checks. It was this check that we disagreed about. what do you guys think about it. villain was no tricky player. What would you do and wht would be your arguments for it? |

Re: fierce argument about my friends meekly played AK
your friend is a very weak player period. Probably playing with scared money.

bet 1/2 to 2/3 pot. there are too many draws out to worry about pot control.

Re: fierce argument about my friends meekly played AK
In your support: (a) board is very draw-heavy and a number of "scare" cards could fall on 5th, & (b) don't want to give villian any free looks at the river, especially if he's still drawing to beat hero.
In support of your friend: (c) TPTK hands don't often win larger pots, (d) checking enables him to keep the pot small, (e) he has position on opponent, & (f) if a blank falls on the river, he still may be able to extract a value-bet against KQ. Depends on how you play the game. Sounds like he's on the weaker-tighter side of the spectrum. |

i dont think thats the answer [/ QUOTE ] Please explain your logic on this one. I think betting the pot is fine since it doesn't define hero's hand entirely, gives incorrect odds to villian if he's still on a draw, and makes your hand easier to laydown against a push. |
