Tournement rebuy rules situation
My roommate and I hold a weekly $5 buyin with rebuys for the first 2 levels. He and I and a couple of other serious players that play online play like absolute donks and some casual players some and take it quite seriously.
Anyway, my roomate donks out after a couple hands and decides not to rebuy. Ok, he should be done right? Anyway, with about 1 minute left in the rebuy period he says he wants to buy back in. Now personally, I couldn't care less but I like to keep the game by the rules and some of the players that take it more seriously were saying this wasn't fair. He (StacysMom) being the most obstinate person you've ever met (not in a bad way, I'm just trying to give you an idea of how it went) decides that he's rebuying anyway. So after some hemming and hawing he gets back in, but we decide it won't be allowed again. Of course he doesn't agree to this as he believes it's a disadvantage to buy in late. I explained that you get blinded and it's the rules (that is the standard rules right? if not then I feel dumb and nm this question.) but yada yada he's not buying it. Anyway, please explain to him why you should not be allowed to bust and then buyin later right before the end of the rebuy period. Thanks, Craig |

Re: Tournement rebuy rules situation
He's in the wrong. In our game we play that you have until your next blind to decide whether or not you want to rebuy. If you miss a blind you can't get back in, no matter how much you bitch and moan.

Re: Tournement rebuy rules situation
Agreed. He can't wait and then rebuy later. In the tourney's I host, the rebuy has to be immediate and declared before the next hand is dealt.

Re: Tournement rebuy rules situation
The standard is an immediate rebuy, not rebuy anytime during the rebuy period.
You get to skip all of the blinds in between busting out and the end of the rebuy period, preserving your stack, at what is usually a cheaper cost? No, I don't think so. |

Re: Tournement rebuy rules situation
Casino Tournament Rules state that you must rebuy immediately (without even skipping a hand).

Re: Tournement rebuy rules situation
We let people sit out until they would have to post a blind...could be next hand or 6 hands later. Miss a blind and you're done.

Re: Tournement rebuy rules situation
I say always give a few hands for people to get money out and decide and all that. But sitting aroudn and waiting and then buying in just aint right. Especially if you say no i dont want to buy back in.

Re: Tournement rebuy rules situation
Has to be an immediate decision. It is unfair to anyone else in the tourney if people are allowed to sit out hands and rebuy at a later time.
Ex. We'll assume a 10 handed STT - You bust out with 30 minutes to go until rebuy ends, you were in the BB. Now you sit around for the next 30 minutes while you watch 4 others get busted out and not rebuy, no you make a decision to rebuy bacause the field has been thinned out. How could this in anyway be fair? |
