Bet with the worst hand, check with a likely best?
Both hands are Party 3/6...what started as a 4-handed game and is now like 8-handed. Both MP opponents (same two in both hands) are similar...not good, not horrible. About 30/6/1.5-2 type stats. A little loose both preflop and postflop and mildly aggressive.
Hand 1: Two MP limpers, I check my option in the BB with 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Flop: J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero Bets, MP1 calls, MP2 raises, Hero calls, MP1 folds. Turn: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Check, check River: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero bets.... Standard? Hand 2: MP1 limps, MP2 raises, Hero calls in BB with 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], MP1 calls. Flop: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero checks, MP1 checks, MP2 bets, Hero raises, MP1 calls, MP2 folds. Turn: J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero bets, MP1 calls River: non-diamond 3. Hero checks intending to call a bet. Comments? |

Re: Bet with the worst hand, check with a likely best?
1: I think that you'll take it down often enough. You're obviously assuming he's raising on the same draw as you, so you should fold him > 20% of the time or whatever.
2: seems pretty standard. |

In hand 2, why would you check the river planning to call a bet? To avoid a raise?

induce a bluff. You won't likely get called by a worse hand (for the most part, opponent seemed reasonable).

One other comment about hand 1: If you had Axs, i assume u don't bet the river, right?

That's my assumption. I think the bet is there simply because 9 high loses.

One other comment about hand 1: If you had Axs, i assume u don't bet the river, right? [/ QUOTE ] Right. Basically I posted both hands together because they're similar in the sense that it's heads up against a likely draw...and missed draw on the river. The difference between the two hands is the first has really no showdown value and the second clearly does. So yes, I'm check/calling A-high here just like I did 22. |
