Hooray for Games Grid - 30 hours and I got........
Well, I played 30 hours at Games Grid during their first 10 days. There was a problem with my VFP account, but they fixed it with no problems. If you are playing $5-$10 or higher, this won't be of interest to you, but if you are a grinder like me, it's pretty good.
The $5,000 sign up bonus (1000 percent for up to a $500 deposit) is tough to clear. I mostly averaged two tables and I cleared $127 in bonus. However, the VFP program (free to join, go to their website) pays up to $12 per table hour, and I got a total of $331 from that. So, a free $488 for my trouble, or $14.31 per hour - plus my winnings, of course. There are not always a bunch of games to choose from, but some $1-2, $2-4 and sometimes $3-6 or $6-12 and a little NL. When I was able to play the $6-$12 game, I also had two $2-$4 games going, and that equals $24 per hour in VFP, or $28 with the sign-up bonus per hour before my actual win. I can't pass that up. One major problem - no sign-up lists for the tables. You have to hover over a game waiting for a player to slump over dead and then kick them out of their chair and take their seat (alright, you wait for an open seat, but still a pain in the butt). I also got a nice little payment from their VFP program. I really like this site. I hope that they can draw in more people because it definately has the potential of being a top notch site.

Re: Hooray for Games Grid - 30 hours and I got........
last night there were 3 or 4 2/4 games going.
I've probably played 3 hours there and I'm getting my ass handed to me by you 2 plus two bonus whores. They need waiting lists and I'd really appreciate a way of knowing how many table hours I've put in. At this point the action there isn't good enough IMO to give up on Party completely. Perhaps 2 tables of each is a good approach. I'm comming to get my money back from you guys! |

Ya, I'm really interested in this site. My main concern is that its not worthwhile since the fish level is proabably low and I can just make more off bad players at party. Can anyone commment on the skill level of the players there?
That being said I'm definatly going to look into getting an account there at the end of the month if their 1000% bonus thing is still available. -later |

From waht I've seen (haven't deposited, still scraping up 500), it's ALL 2+2ers.

Re: Hooray for Games Grid - 30 hours and I got........
They had a 200/400 game going last night for a few minutes, I missed most of it but was able to see someone sitting with 59K on the table. Not sure how someone can put that much trust into a relatively new poker site, even if they have been offering backgammon for the past 8 years.

Re: Hooray for Games Grid - 30 hours and I got........
the games on GG are definitely tougher than other sites. possibly one of the toughest I've ever tried to play against.
I like how gamesgrid has started out but I can't be that motivated to play there in the long run unless they can attract more casual/fish players to the site. the FPP+VFP deals work out to just under 200% rakeback, but many other site's bonuses have an even higher return, and can be cleared at lower limits against softer players. without a good mainstream marketing campaign, GG will limit themselves to only those players who want to play against "good" competition. since the FPP bonus is worthless to novice players who start at 50c/$1 limits and below, there is no 'onramp' of sorts to breed fresh meat into the pool. look at those sites which have bonus structures that generally tilt towards people who can play $2/4 and higher - UB, Full Tilt, Bodog...none of them are doing gangbusters at the moment. Poker Stars gets by because of the tourneys and great microlimits games with little or no rake. Pokerroom has good marketing, a decent casino, and the entire macintosh/unix market on lock. GG can definite grab some market share in this segment (certainly more than Poker Mountain has done on the low end), but will they reach any kind of critical mass? doubtful. I like the idea of a place like GamesGrid, where "real" players can hang out. but would I want to play there to make money in the long run? |

You sure it wasn't play money? Because other people have made the same mistake before!

It was real money, no FC in front.
