Default Is it possible to lay down a set in SSNL

There was so much action here that I pretty much figured the guy had 999 or KKK but I wasnt willing to fold a set. However the chances of AK or a flush draw were probably slim. Could I have folded here?

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $.25 BB (8 handed) converter

BB ($32.95)
Hero ($30.20)
UTG+1 ($24.50)
MP1 ($15.15)
MP2 ($24.75)
CO ($17.30)
Button ($16.30)
SB ($6.35)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
Hero calls $0.25, UTG+1 calls $0.25, MP1 calls $0.25, 2 folds, Button calls $0.25, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($1.50) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (6 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $0.7, UTG+1 raises to $3.6, MP1 folds, Button folds, SB folds, BB folds, Hero raises to $9.7, UTG+1 raises to $12.6, Hero calls $0.

Turn: ($23.80) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)

River: ($23.80) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)

Final Pot: $23.80

If he has you beat, then he's terrible for not betting the turn OR the river.

Unless the player was a certified calling station, he wouldn't have trip kings since he would have raised preflop. So, the only hand likely to be out there that beats you is trip 9s. Which, I don't think he has.

I don't lay it down. Matter of fact... I'd lose the rest on the turn.

If I was wrong... I'd curse at the monitor and reload.

Yes it is possible to lay down a set, but not on that board. The possibility of a set of K's is so remote I wouldn't even consider it. It is possible that he has 99, but he could also have many other cards. I would try and get all-in at some point, preferably on the flop. JMO

Im not sure if the converter messed up but we were all in on the flop. He had 3 kings. The last raise he made put me all in.

I dont think you can put anybody on better set in lowlimit NL. They often have TPTK, TPnK, second pair, just plain bluff or anything that it is much more profitable just not to worry about it.

On a board that shows no flush and no straight, no there is no way you can fold here. Its when you have a final board like K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] where you are holding JJ and the villain raised preflop and showed significant action on the turn that you have to learn how to fold a hand like a set.

You played it fine. I would expect hands like A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (pair + nut flush draw) and Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (flush draw + inside str8 draw) to play it this way much more often than KK. 99 is a concern though.
