Default Going to war with A9o 3 handed.

Villain is a TAG that I have 70 hands on and hes 18/17/4.8 WSD of 20. The table just fell to 3handed.

Well, let me have it.

Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">Button raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, Button calls.

Flop: (7 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, Button calls.

Turn: (6.50 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises</font>, Hero calls.

River: (10.50 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">Button bets</font>, Hero folds.

Final Pot: 11.50 BB

3 handed, like heads up, is tough to make comments on hands in a vacuum. Everything depends on what happened in the past hands.

Then again, since the table just fell to 3 handed, this hand sort of is in a vacuum anyway.

I think there are a few acceptable ways to play this:

a) do not 3 bet the flop. Fold the turn.

b) do not 3 bet the flop. Call turn, fold river.

c) do not 3 bet the flop. Call turn, call river.

Actually, I looked at it again, I don't mind the way you played it.

On the flop you have 2 backdoor draws and an overcard. By 3 betting you might be able to blow him off his hand on the turn. Also he could have a spade draw, in which case you can bet the turn and check call the river.

On the turn sometimes he has a monster with you drawing dead, and sometimes he has something like KQ. Your decision is close, with as many as 7 outs calling is ok.

Please explain your flop 3-bet. Preflop/Turn/River are automatic.

To convince him that I had a hand so he would fold the turn.

I am calling his raise on the flop.
