Top set heads up - too fast?
One more PP $.50/$1 (Gotta love free money days)
I raise the UTG limper from the SB with TT. BB folds and it's heads up on the flop. Flop: Td 4h 2d I bet out and get raised. I reraise and get called. Turn: Td 4h 2d 7s I bet and get called. River: Td 4h 2d 7s Kc I bet and he folds. == I was wondering if the flop is a good time to do a little stop and go. I was worried at the time that he might be trying to buy a free card, so I made it expensive. But it also could have been a raise with JT or something like that, in which case I would get more by calling and check-raising the turn. I'm not sure which play I like more in this position. Re: Top set heads up - too fast?
with that flop, I doubt he's looking for a free card.
I call the flop raise and go for a check raise on the turn. |

Re: Top set heads up - too fast?
I like the way you played the hand. I don't like the idea of calling his flop raise and checkraising the turn. I would be too afraid that he would not bet the turn, as he may very well be on a flush draw, and is buying a free card. Or he might have top pair, weak kicker, and suddenly decide to not bet the turn, fearful that you have an overpair or have him outkicked. Essentially, you are looking to gain an additional 1/2 bet by calling the flop and check-raising the turn versus three-betting the flop and betting out on the turn. I don't think this possible extra profit is worth the risk of giving him a free card to hit a flush, or missing possible bets against his marginal made hand (eg - top pair, weak kicker).

Play it fast
Might be a flush draw, or a single pair that puts you on overcards. Either way, the turn will likely get checked through for a free card or for a cheap showdown. I like your aggression, let the other player pay to see your cards or catch that diamond.
