Default Skipping 3/6?

I'm starting to wonder if 3/6 is just incredibly hard on Party. I beat 2/4 for 4BB/100. I lose nearly that at 3/6, yet my PokerTracker stats in every category are almost exactly identical. I'm absolutely baffled and frustrated at this point (10k hands at 3/6 now).

Is there any merit in skipping 3/6 and playing 5/10? I've played 4/8 at Prima and had no problems. Wondering at this point if there's just something peculiar about the play at party 3/6?

Where the hell is sample size man when we need him?

The more you play, the more you'll realize that 10k hands is nothing. In fact, certain longterm winning players have posted breakeven (and probably losing) streaks as long as 20k hands.

I think you need to keep playing 3/6 until you feel confident that you can beat it. Skipping a level is rarely the correct move, and there are some really good lessons to be learned at 3/6 full.

I was going to do my standard "post some hands" thing but then I thought, no, brett, why don't you see what kind of hands he's posted and if you think he's playing well or not. Now, after having searched, post some hands.

The game is swingy. Your losses at 3/6 don't mean you're not beating it.

I played 15k hands of 2/4 with a winrate of 1.5BB, after another 10k I was at 2.75. If you take out the first two weeks of play at 2/4, I ran nearly two months at .6BB/100.

I'm now at 3/6, and after 2000 hands I'm up a grand (9.2BB/100).

The game is swingy as hell, just get used to it. 50,000 hands really isn't enough for your winrate to converge.

Hey man, I had nearly an identical experience about 8 months ago. I was absolutely crushing 2/4 and then lost most of those winnings at 3/6. Part of it can be attributed to a higher level of play, part of it is variance, and a big part is the fact that you're probably not playing your best game right now. Do not move up to 5/10!

It is incredibly easy to lie to oneself about one's level of play, and I may be one of the biggest culprits of all time, so don't think this is personal. Reread Theory, SSHE, Inside the Poker Mind, etc until you feel 100% confident again, and maybe just stick with 2/4 for a while. You don't have to rush through the limits.

Good luck, I know you'll be fine. Just don't get ahead of yourself.

Thanks. It seems wrong to move up and I'm not normally superstitious . I'll wait until 20k and see if things even out I guess before I decide if I'm out of my league at 3/6.

Damn frustrating though. Every top hand, except AA and KK, shows a negative value over 10k hands. It's just eating at me at this point.

Most likely you're just running bad. If you're still <0BB/100 after 20k hands, then you might have cause for concern. As of now I would keep playing and post lots of hands, and read lots of hands.

I'll bet a lot of money that neither of these statements are indicative of your true win rate.

I hope not . I have about 40k hands at 2/4, so that's reasonably set. Maybe a bit high if I've had particularly good luck.

I know sitting at 3/6, the number of VPIP < 20 is huge compared to 2/4. I can usually find multiple tables with 1 such shark at 2/4, every 3/6 table has 4-6 of them.
