Set of 3s vs Three Flush Flop
My thoughts:
Preflop - I think the pf call is fine with the other caller and implied odds. Yes/no? Flop - Yikes. Raise to define hand? I don't give him credit for the flush. Turn - I checked to avoid a trap and induce betting if a non-club hits. Not sure if this was the best... River - Ok, I'm confident enough that I have him beat. Did I make a good value bet there? More/less? I've spent a lot of time at the limit tables of late (and MTT/SnG), but not much at NL. So I'm trying to get back in the swing of things. Comments appreciated. Re: Set of 3s vs Three Flush Flop
Flop seems ok a raise will probobly lead to him folding or pushing.
I would bet the turn to prevent a 4th free spade to hands like AK [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] - A10 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. The river seems good. |

Re: Set of 3s vs Three Flush Flop
raising on the river is a terrible idea playing at this level imo.
9 times out of 10, you're going to have some yahoo who draws to the river trying to spike their 5. K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4x, or other trash. |

Re: Set of 3s vs Three Flush Flop
You need to bet the turn. I don't know what you're reasoning was, but you're definitely ahead. You obviously can't give a free card.
Raising the river is just strange. The situation wouldn't come up if you played the turn correctly, but I think you got some value out of it. |

Re: Set of 3s vs Three Flush Flop
Definitely bet the turn. Don't be afraid of a trap here, it's easy. If he pushes, fold, if he raises small, call and hope the board pairs up. You're losing a lot of value here when he has only one club, or just an A, then you're saving the times he flopped a flush.

Re: Set of 3s vs Three Flush Flop
I just wasn't confident enough with his holdings. I figured he had a big ace and aggression from me would scare him off as he might put me on a flush.
Didn't think I handled it all that well, but at least he bet at me and called my raise to bail me out. |
