Default Why Hellmuth does well at NL

Although i don't believe Phil Hellmuth to be a very good poker player, he has had success at nl. Although there are little things from experience through the years that have helped him along the way. I believe there is on major reason why he does well at nl. It is that he knows better not to risk all his chips in marginal situations. I believe he makes many small mistakes when he plays. But he keeps the pots relatively small. So when he makes these mistakes they are not significant to bust or strongly diminish his stack. So i'm saying even though he doesn't play poker very well, he understands that in nl he needs a very strong hand when all the chips go in. He doesn't make the all in moves or calls with weak hands that others do. Sometimes he goes overboard and makes monster laydown, but that is better than being on the other side and calling too much. This is how he manages to have success!

You are basing most of this on the .1% of the hands you see him play on TV. Most who have played with him will say that few people in the world control a pot better flop on than PH, although he is not as effective as he once was.

Gee, I thought he was kind of a washed up has been, and I thought the fact that he doesnt risk his chips is what holds him back.

He sure sucks at ring games.

Yeah, you don't need to be a good poker player to win 9 WSOP bracelets. Anybody can do that.

And what are you basing this on? About how he controls a pot better than anybody.

Of course you stopped reading there. That is your problem. What that means is he does not play poker techinically very good. Just look at his video. But it nl structure tournament he gets away with this lack of ability by doing what i said. Next time read on instead of closing your mind because you don't like what you hear.
