Default Virtual B&M Dealers

When I was in Hollywood, FL at the Seminole last month, I had a conversation with one of the dealers there. He said in the coming months they would be recieving several "virtual dealer" poker tables.

Instead of being delt actual cards, the player's hole cards appear on a screen in front of them, and the community cards are displayed on a screen in the center of the table. On half of the tables there would no longer be chips, cards, or dealers.

Everyone on the table agreed that this was possibly the worst decision ever and that none of us would ever play on such a table.

Discuss.

Yeah, dumb idea.

Our poker room manager was contacted by a salesman who was selling pager-like devices to install at the tables that the dealer could use to summon the floor, summon the board for an open seat, etc. (Maybe other dealers here have used these...) Our manager said that electronics would take away from the personality of the poker room and sent him away. I agree.

I disagree. It makes the poker room much more efficent. I've played in rooms that have this installed, its saves a lot of trouble.

It seems like it would encourage the players and dealer to call the floor over more often, which would suck imo.

There are pro and cons to everything.

A couple of pros to virtual dealers are more hands dealt, no errors by the dealer in reading the board, no tips needed.

Wow, sounds just like the online poker that I can play from the comfort of my own home, wearing nothing but boxer shorts, listening to my own music and watching whatever TV I want. And when I'm at home, I can email, surf the net for porn, I mean news. I don't have to spend hours driving to the casino and spending a lot on gasoline. I don't have to wade through banks of slot machines and the zombie-like scary slot people who block the aisles and never look where they are going and are attached by their slot leashes (i.e. the flexy cords from their casino card to the machine).

Seriously, why in the hell would I go to a B&M to play what sounds like essentially online poker? Sure, I suppose you can see your opponents while they click on call/fold/raise, but I better being paying a lot less in rake if I don't get to handle real cards and real chips.

I completely disagree. They need to eliminate the yelling and screaming in these poker roons. An electronic system is a great idea. It would also make the casino more efficient in their operations which would mean more profit for them.

Yeah but the rake will probably go up to finance the tables.
(hopefully not though since they wont have to pay as many dealers)
