Re: Checkup 3
I'd bet more at a flop like that. You're giving almost 3 to 1 to an opponent that has you covered AND has position on you.

Re: Checkup 3
what do you do if raised?
If called? I like to keep the pot smaller to have more room on later streets. |

Re: Checkup 3
I agree. Gotta bet more on the flop. Something like 300. The call on the turn seems ok. I wouldn't like doing it, but I think I fold on the river. Pretty much the only hand you beat is 1010 or a bluff/busted flush. 910 got there. JQ beats you. I'm guessing he had QJ of hearts.

[ QUOTE ]
I like to keep the pot smaller to have more room on later streets. [/ QUOTE ] If this was your thinking on the flop, then your turn action doesn't make any sense. The reason you keep the pot small is so that you can get away with betting less on the turn to try and get villain to fold. Instead you showed weakness and he assumed you were making a continuation bet on the flop with overcards. In addition, his bet was only 1/4 the pot. I think a reraise push may be in order, I'm on the fence about that though. Edit: Also, by "keeping the pot small" then checking, you basically made it cheaper for the villain to push you out of the pot. If you were going to check the turn, you should've put in about 75-100% of the pot. This way the villain has to make a much larger bet to try and push you off the hand and you have a much better chance of winning it right there. I think the flop bet was ok if you are going to play the turn. I'm not too afraid of UTG with an 8 as he would not be likely to call a 120 bet PF. Theres a straight draw and a flush draw out there (although the straight draw is also unlikely cause T9 is not likely to call PF either). Giving him 3:1 here isn't enough for a draw to call here. So I'm beat by 77, AA and KK and afraid of flush draw. The J wasn't too bad on the turn. Its not a flush card. It gives T9 the straight, but I still would discount that heavily. The only other hand it really helps is JJ. I throw out another 350-400 here. If I get called, or raised, I think I let go. |

Re: Checkup 3
the river play is the best part of the hand by far, no reason to bet this river, checking and calling gets lots of bluffs especially after the weakness shown on the turn. I wouldve bet 3/4 pot on the turn, or if the opponent is really aggro. I would c-raise AI.
