I just got warned for downloading a movie from cable company!!!!

Holy sh$%^$t, I called my cable company to find out why my internet wasn't working. I thought it was a late bill perhaps. The lady says it's because of abuse and transfers me to tech sevice. I'm thinking, Oh boy, here we go!!!! So the tech lady says "Did you download the movie "The Italian Job" because we got a report from the MPAA that someone at that account downloaded copyrighted material. I'm thinking, that's it! I'm toast. But she basically said that as long as the movie is removed from the computer and I am aware that the cable modem account could be terminated if done again, then they will reconnect.

whew!!!!

wow - was this a torrent put out there by the industry to catch and warn people??? Has anyone ever had this happen to them?? Just so you know , I got it from Demenoid.com.

What a crappy movie to illegally download. It's on like 10 times a day on cable.

I like the movie and I don't have any movie channels. I won't mention other one's I have downloaded. Looks like I am done downloading which doesn't really bother me but the Big Bother thing scared the piss out of me!!!

my roommate swears by limewire I personally use Imesh. I have used Kazaa light its pretty good however I had a buddy pass me a copy of the software with out all the adware on programs on it.

That's weird.

I think it's funny how much time, money, and effort the MPAA wastes on stuff like this. It's designed to scare people so they will tell their friends (or all of 2+2) about how they got busted.

Meh.

I'm not in favor of mass pirating, but man do I hate the MPAA.

Download Peerguardian 2. It's basically a program which blocks all those MPAA, RIAA and others IP addresses.

who is your cable company?

this may not be a simple case of 'big brother' or similar to the riaa prosecutions. many cable companies are owned, or own movie studios and they will cooperate on stuff like this.

it does not sound like your info was given as part of a court order like they did with the record companies. i think they are snooping on you and i would dump them in a second if i had options.
