Does Sklansky have a book that only deals with NLH?
I have the Theory of Poker, but I really don't like the examples of the different poker games. To get the most of it, I almost need to read a book of poker games to understand. Does he put out a book on NHL? I heard that the book he did with Malmuth was limit.

Sounds similar to the one Conjelco is putting out.

Re: Does Sklansky have a book that only deals with NLH?
Hello Gentlemen,
Here is a quote from an interview with Ed Miller by deacsoft in this month's e-zine. It sounds like they are tackling the subject of NL HE in a very serious fashion for their upcoming tome. Ed Miller: I'm working on a no limit cash game book with David Sklansky that is due out in late Summer 2005. It's going to tackle the game from a theoretical perspective, a la The Theory of Poker. After reading that I got really excited to get my hands on this new endeavour. Wow! Having no previous exposure to the HE writings of either author of Conjelco's latest, I will liklely wait and see before making a purchase. The subject matter, NL cash games, certainly is of great interest. Cheers, the Real Macoy |

Re: Does Sklansky have a book that only deals with NLH?
Yikes, I hope so!
It seems like all the NLH stuff out there has HUGE holes in it and really isn't that analytical. My big problem with Doyle's chapter on NLH is that he constantly talks about different plays that he makes without giving you a theoretical framework for making those plays. Instead he says "all great poker players have a feel for the game" WHAT???? If having a "feel" for the game is all you need, wtf do I need super/system for? My biggest problem with NLH cash games right now are: 1. Playing an overpair versus a set or 2 pair 2. Playing AK after missing the flop. I am the victim of reverse implied odds ( Anyway, I hope that Skanskly/Miller TKO this subject in the same way they dealth with SSHE (totally brilliant) |

Sounds similar to the one Conjelco is putting out. [/ QUOTE ] I'd be very surprised if it is similar at all. David and I are writing about the THEORY of no limit hold 'em, in the vein of The Theory of Poker. Envision a TOP-style book analyzing no limit situations. It will be the kind of book that only David has even attempted to write so far. I'd be surprised if the Conjelco offering were similar. |

[/ QUOTE ] Ed, This book of yours sounds like a very exciting endeavour (...understatement...) ! There certainly is a hole in the literature for truly analytical/theoretical NL HE analysis (particularly cash games). TOP continues to resonate my synapses after many readings, thus the prospect of something similar for NL is mouthwatering to say the least. Especially after such an amazing offering you sent us in the form of SSHE. I hope the writing flows freely and the analysis deep and resonant. Cheers, the Real Macoy |
