Default Two trips hands - any mistakes?

Both are .5/1 on Paradise. No ante. No reads on players involved.

Let me also say that I don't have 7CSFAP, and I need to get it. Is this kind of thing covered in the book?

Not sure if I should be throwing out a raise here. And is this way too loose of a call on 3rd for no a ante game?

Hmmm... I typed that all out and it looks pretty ordinary and straight foward. Not sure why I even saved that hand history. Oh well.

First one I probably wouldn't have played since you have a dead 6. Once you got lucky and caught I would probably just call it down but you could throw out a raise to see where you are...if he pops it back at you then you may be in trouble but you still should call it down till the end.

The 2nd hand you bet and raised the whole way...pretty standard.

fold 1st hand

2nd hand is good
(on the river I probably bet but I definetly don't 3 bet if I'm raised)

Uh, yeah, don't play a pair of Sixes when a Six is out. Depending on your opponent, you might throw a raise in there at some point, but against typical players, you're going to be shown trip Sevens often enough that you can really only call. Some would probably advocate folding fourth street, and I'm not entirely sure that they're wrong.

Second hand, when the other guy raises sixth street, he's saying one of two things:

1) He has trip Queens beaten.

2) He has trip Nines and brain damage.

Or maybe he thinks you're a monkey. He should be full. Of course, you're probably not up against Chip Reese here, so your three-bet may not be entirely out-of-whack. Worst case, you've got outs. Well, worst case you've got one out.

Thanks for the comments. Looking back, I'm curious if I even knew that one of my sixes was dead on the first hand. Thats generally a fold for me. Ignorance is bliss sometimes.

First hand the villian had sevens and twos on 4th, MHIG. The third player that came along for the ride had a pair of kings I think. I love sucky players that call the whole way with a pair.

Second hand the villian did indeed have just trip nines and "brain damage." Again, I love sucky players.

Andy - I'm always interested in your analysis, because it is obviously rooted in higher games. Somewhere in my brain, I know that when the nines raise me he should have a full house, but I'm too used to playing .5/1 where people raise (and cap!) with just trips. Hopefully I can make the mental switch when I move up to higher games.

Almost all of my high-only stud experience is at $6/12 and below. I've played $15/30 stud at Canterbury about half-a-dozen times, and I've played $10/20 and $20/40 stud a handful of times at Foxwoods and for maybe half-an-hour at the Taj Mahal. From what I've seen lately, Foxwoods' $20/40 game is looser than Canterbury's $4/8 and $6/12 games.

You do need to take the brain damage factor into account. Against most players, I will only call that raise, but there are definitely some I will three-bet against. There is almost no one I'd five-bet against, though, and you don't have this option on-line.
