Default Pocket As with scary board.

$5 rebuy tourney on Gaming Club....

Sorry, don't know how to export hands from that site

Blinds (200/400)

Hero (9,965)
Villian (10,513)

Villian is weak player, but he's bet several times with weak hands.

Hero is Button w/ A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Villian limps in from UTG.
Folded to hero who opens 2,000. Everyone folds to villian who calls.

Pot: 4600K
FLOP: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Villian bets 3,000.

The obvious suggestion is to go all-in. If he flopped a straight or a set, you are gone, and there is nothing you can do about it. But if he is on a draw, you have to protect your hand.

Calling is probably the worst choise. If he flopped a straight or set, you will probably lose all your money anyway, and if not you are giving him a free card to draw out on you.

That flop is not that scary though, imagine a flop like TJQ suited or KKQ. Those are difficulty flops to play with AA.

if he's weak like you say he is, do you really think he would lead out this flop with J10, which im assuming ur putting him on? same goes for a set. if the guy has any strong holding, im 98% sure he would check the flop for the slowplay.
i think ur still good here and should push.

He's probably put you on AK or AQ and thinks he can take the pot right there. Definite pushing situation.

Everything about his play is consistent with him holding KK, QQ, JJ or TT. Then he's excited about the board and hoping you're just on two overcards, such as AK.

Yes, it's possible he has JT or 99, but if he had 88 or 77, there's a good chance he wouldn't have called your pre-flop bet. Even JT a sane player might have laid down. As a stone-cold guess, I'd figure there's a 75% chance you're ahead. Maybe more.

I'd push and hope you don't get an ugly surprise. It's a minor consideration, but if he does have a high PP and you just call, then if an A comes on the turn or river, you may lose him to any serious bet. Pushing now either takes down the pot or gets you properly paid if he calls and the board improves for you.
