Bumpers of Sage Francis.....
Have you heard the new album yet?? I bought it the other day and I look at the cover and there's a sticker with a quote about his genius from [censored] URB magazine!! I listened to it a bit, not enough, but I'm not so sure about this one.....
For those who've heard it, what do you think? |

Re: Bumpers of Sage Francis.....
The Buzz Kill is kind've awkward with the tempo shifts, but really grows on you.
"Gimme a bandaid, a band that can't play, a fan base with hearing aids, and a voice like a hand grenade. I pull the wool over their vision, pull the pin and push it in, I'm using women as a pincushion for supervillains with some warpaint and jokes done in poor taste - we'll see who laughs last all the way to foreign banks." Sea Lion is probably the best of any of Sage's Emo songs (along with Rewrite and The Cure) Gunz Yo is either the best or second best song on the CD. It's Sage at his best, being sarcastic, cynical, and making fun of other MCs. "Might remind you of a mic the way I hold it. To the grill - a homophobic rapper unaware of the graphic nature of phallic symbols. Tragically ironic - sucking off each others' gats and pistols." "I got another gun, I keep it in briefcase, it keeps me safe at my workplace. Cubicle gangster who's in need of his space. Angster of love unable to look girls in the face. 'Cause I know stupid people only increase the birthrate. I'm just about dumb enough to hold up a sperm bank..." Escape Artist is a very strong track, not quite emoish or anything, but introspective. "They call me dare devil, but I'm not precise enough. Unprofessional on an amateur level - I love my life too much." It takes awhile for the whole CD to hit you, but it has Sage's strongest lyrics ever (with the exception of some of his non-prophets stuff like Xaul Zan's Heart and Damage). CD does have a slow point, tracks 9-12, but they aren't that bad ("it fucks you up good, but it's not that bad"). Best tracks: 1a. [3] Gunz Yo 1b. [14] Slow Down Gandhi 3. [1] The Buzz Kill 4. [7] Dance Monkey 5. [4] Escape Artist |
