Default When to go for the middle? (NBA)

When is this, if ever, a winning play for handicappers.
Got Min. last night at -2.5, and now they are -3.5.
Does anyone ever play for the middle of 3?
It doesn't seem like it would hit enough to offset the juice, but I don't actually have any numbers or data to back this up.
Really this is a question for the professionals.
Always been curious.
Thanks in advance.

You need a minimum of 1.5 points. I prefer to have at least 2 points, but I will sometimes middle for 1.5 depending on what number it crosses.

The value if a middle is that you get to put much more money in action than you normally would, since you are only risking the juice. To do that, you normally have to make both bets with the intention of going for the middle. If you only made a standard-sized bet on Minn., it probably isn't worth middling -- just stay on the side that has value. Good luck.

FWIW, there are a few +4 lines out there now. I took one of those in combo with a rogue 2.5 for a shot at the middle.

Man that ending sucked. Sure looked like it was going to hit right there at the end.
