1 outside bubble - semi-rant
<Begin Rant>
So, I occasionally play in the UB freerolls that give top 50 an invite in the Sunday TEC. This is my first encounter with organized stalling. I ended up 51st because of it. What's funny is I had a fairly good stack with about 10 left to go (sitting around 45th), but the table with the two shortest stacks grinded to a hault. They convinced the other players to use their maximum time. If that's not collusion I don't know what is. I mean, I'm not too upset because it was just a dumb freeroll for practice, but here I am playing good poker at a good pace at my table and they are just waiting around. The kicker was hand-for-hand started with only 2 players outside the money, just as I was UTG and only had enough to survive the BB, but not the SB. If this were a money satellite I'd be seriously steaming. I wouldn't care in a real money tournament either because I wouldn't be playing to slip in anyway. If one short stack wants to prove how much he sucks by resorting to using his maximum time each turn, then so be it, but getting other players to help you is just ridiculous. Has anybody encountered these tactics in satellite tournaments where the top whatever pay equally? Will sites do anything about it if it's an entire table doing it? <End Rant> I learned a lesson though. Common sense makes me want to tighten up in these situations because you're not playing for first anymore, but if this is how it's going to be I might as well play like I am. :/ |
