Default Flopping a set

Hi guys, newbie here

What is the better strategy playing a flopped set?

Do you slowplay and check in early position, or bet?

In late position, obvioulsy, if there are no bets, you wil bet because someone will probably call thinking you are playing positiona d stealing the pot, but what if there is a bet already out there, do you raise or call?
I know the answer is fully dependant on the types of players at the table, but for me, flopping a set (unless the flop is all one suit and not the ones I am holding) is the one of the best situations to be in in hold em, especially if it's a mid set and there is an overcard on the table.

The ultimate feeling though, flopping low quads with a high overcard like an Ace. So rare, but so much fun.

too situation dependent. give us a hand history, or describe the situation better. what draws are on the board. player reads. tourny or cash. and so on.

Even depends on the type of game played (no-limit, limit) and stack sizes.
