Don\'t try this at home
I'm ashamed to say that aside from the hyperbole about the number of players involved, this story is 100% true.
I'm at Hollywood Park in an excellent 20/40 game. Unlike the raisy-crazy chip-spewing fests at Commerce, this game is pretty loose-passive/weak-passive. I'm practically salivating at the large chip stacks in front of some of the worst players I've ever seen, but the cards have not been cooperating tonight and I'm only managing to tread water. If any of the other players have been paying attention (which they probably haven't), they'd have noticed that yours truly hasn't played many hands. I pick up T9 sooted in the BB. Three or four limpers to the CO, who raises. He's super liberal with his raises pre-flop, plays fair/ok post-flop. Button calls two cold, SB calls, I call, other players call, players from other tables come over and call, cocktail waitress and valet call. So eighteen of us see the following: Flop: 267 rainbow SB bets, I call. Everyone calls, CO raises, button calls, SB 3-bets. With my gutshot draw now facing a 3-bet, I of course do the only logical thing. I cap. Everyone calls. Turn: Q I bet. Everyone folds. |

I'd raise the flop.
