Default Killer hand in the PS 350K Tourny Sun Nite. Comments Please

I really got to learn how to play AK.

Guys, this is the hand that crippled me in the 350K Tourney Sun night.
As you can see I was very healthy at the moment, but winning this hand would have put me back to the top 10. Was around 60th at that instant.
Keep in mind when you read this that I was in the SB and Gunslinger was in steal position.
I figured it would be a coin flip, with possibly having the lead, as I ruled out AA or KK with his almost push raise.

Comments please. I know I had no fold equity by calling. Was this alone enough to throw the cards in the muck?
Comments and flames welcome.

I think this is mostly personal preference. If you're ruling out AA or KK, then you have to decide whether you want to put virtually all of your chips on a coinflip or in a dominating situation. Do you want to climb up the ladder and make as much money as you can, or do you want to win? Assuming you have the bankroll to play in a tournament like this, I'm calling (pushing) here.

Almost the exact situation busted me in a super.

I was 4th in chips with 13 left and the PF raiser was 2nd in chips at the time, I ran into QQ.

I thought long and hard about that play, and given a chance I'd do it exactly the same.

Two days later I'm in a final table at a Stars $50 PLHE tourney and I do the same thing and end up against 99, spike my K and go on to win.

Winning that hand, and you do about 1/2 the time, leads to greater payouts due to stack implications.

but winning this hand would have put me back to the top 10.

Exactly.

And you would be one of 3 big stacks at the table which puts you in the driver seat.

Way to confusing with the chat.

1000/2000 blinds with 100 ante. Enough said.

Well played.

Thanks for the comments.
I feel relieved reading the responses.
At the instant I took that hit, felt like I made a borderline bad call.
Reading your encouraging posts, wants to get myself right back in the saddle.
Of course the real money is at the final table, and to win you must be willing to die!
So I died.

I am surprised that no one said I should have picked a better spot.
Perhaps because of the large raise screaming (I do not want a call); coupled w/ the steal spot and me defending the SB changed every thing.

Again thanks.

AA KK is an easy call.
I was not so sure then that it was an easy call.
But I was thinking of pushing if the CO or Button raised.
That would have been an easier decision in my opinion.

You asked for it you got it:

you should have waited for a better spot.

I don't think this was the right situation to call an all in w/ AK (same stack size - raise too big to be a steal > 10 X BB, you are likely a slight dog) but I do see the arguments wither way. I know i'm pushing w 99-qq and 2-4 x raising w aa kk. So it was pretty safe to rule out the latter. If a coin flip is what you want, it's what you got.

My only criticism is that it's wishful thinking that the "steal position" was stealing by pushing with >10x bb.

Just mHO
