pwned?
Can somebody give me the history/definition of this 2+2 term? It obviously means owned but there must be some 2+2 history behind it.

Re: pwned?
It means "owned," as you thought. It's pretty common in massively multiplayer online games. Some people use it ironically.
In one game I know of, if you defeat a certain villain, you get a badge called "Pwnd". It's not a 2+2 words, it's more of a lazy kids playing computer games word. One reference I found claimed it to be a contraction of "power" and "owned", which makes some sense, I guess. Regards, T |

Re: pwned?
Taken from UrbanDictionary.com-
1. pwned A corruption of the word "Owned." This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned." Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned." It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force. "Man, I rock at my job, but I still got a bad evaluation. I was pwned." OR "That team totally pwned us." |

Re: pwned?
I prefer pwn3d
It's part of 7337 speak. Which is short, naturally, for elite speak. I think it got popular in Counter-Strike, the online shooter, actually. |
