Question about flopped straight
Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (8 handed) converter
Preflop: Hero is on big blind. Dealt to hero 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG :Villain calls, 5 folds, SB completes, Hero checks. Flop: (3 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero bets, Villain calls, SB folds. Turn: (2.50 Hero) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets, Villain calls. River: (4.50 Hero) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets, Villain raises, Hero calls. Final Pot: 8.50 BB Ok, so the flop and turn are obvious, but the river is less obvious. No real reads on villain, wondering what line others take on the river. A few of us (B_Dids, Daryn, et al.) discussed the hand in the chat room, and are wondering what other opinions on the hand would be. Thanks for all responses. |

Re: Question about flopped straight
I say: Bet river, fold to raise.
Why bet/fold over check/call? 1. Most 2/4 players are not capable of bluff raising the river. 2. Villian will probably call you with more hands than he would bet. (like two pair) 3. Your opponent won't check through any hands that beat you. If you disagree with #2 or #3, check/call. |

Re: Question about flopped straight
I think you should only put 1 bet in on the river.

Re: Question about flopped straight
well, it seems that the check call would be ideal, because if he checks behind you you have it, and if he doesnt, you can still fold AND save that bet....soooo...i would check/fold instead of check call..looks like a weak ace to me, standard low-limit gutshot play after that. let it go

Re: Question about flopped straight
My thoughts.
I think bet/fold is the best line for the river. I think otherwise you're just giving up too much value vs. Qx and Jx, which at 2/4 are calling down here a lot. |

Re: Question about flopped straight
Completely agree. Way to much value on the river to pass up a bet.
Also, if you think the player is capable of bluffing > ~12% of the time, then you call his raise, and, if right, tell him he's your biatch. |

Re: Question about flopped straight
I thought you played it fine on each street.
Villan was either playing AT or on a flush draw. AT fits calling the flop bet, although he might also raise there, so maybe he held Axs. |

Re: Question about flopped straight
i think you can fold to an unknown on this river and not lose any sleep over it.
if it's going to cost you sleep though, go ahead and look him up to see if he at least was betting a pair with that ace, or if he was drawing inside the whole way |
