Default the trifecta ?

paradise 3/6 5 max - i'm busy playing in a couple of draw games and hadnt paid a lot of specific attention to the other players at the table - it was apparent that they all loved the call button

i get 8h6h in the BB - UTG open raises and everbody but the SB calls as do i

flop is As Qh 4h - i check and UTG bets followed by 2 calls - i raise and UTG 3 bets - 2 more calls to me so i cap and all call

turn is 9h - i check - UTG bets - 2 calls to me - i raise and all call

river is Jc ?

i would have naturally just lead river and hope i catch someone slippin when they decide they think it is a good idea to raise me and then i 3-bet... if i had a chance to stop and think, i would realize that the trifecta attempt here is mandatory

I played about 40000 hands in this game last month. If you check, too often it will get checked through and you will miss some bets. Lead the river.

Hi stripsqueeze,

checking the turn is rather large mistake.

i think the turn CR is good. the river, you MUST lead in IMO... too good a chance of a checkthrough. disaster.

Turn c/r is awesome. Your flop action makes them not put you on the flush. UTG obviously likes his hand so he's going to probably keep betting.

River I bet. I think that there's too good of a chance that after the flop and turn action the river gets checked around UNLESS someone out there actually has a higher flush than you. I don't risk it. Just bet.

i bet the river and they all called - AK, A9, and Q10 - i think i would usually bet the turn

i'm not certain that i should of got this excited on the flop without the best flush draw but that sounds hollow when you win

After that turn check-raise you've gotta go for another on the river. It's not all about maximising +ev, think of the posting equity

flush over flush is so rare. it does happen, but i think you make more when you don't worry about higher flushes, until the betting action indicates that maybe you should. By this time it is late in the game and you call. i think losing an extra bet or 2 or 3 to a higher flush occasionally is well worth all the other times that you gain extra bets.
