Default Most effective way to datamine?

I just bought PT, and just started datamining. When I datamine, should I just look for people with high VPIP and PFR? Or should I just datamine, so that I will have a better read on most people when I sit down at a random table? A combination of both, follow the fish, but I will also have good reads on the rest of the table? I need some datamining tips(I play at UB, if that really matters)

PS-I searched but could not find any good threads.

Most effective way is to get stats on as many players you are likely to run into as you can. Then, check out the summary tab to identify fish/maniacs for your buddy list.

If you already know enough about a player to know he is a fish, there's no point in getting additional hands on him in your database.

excession recommends mining tables for 30 minutes or so before you sit down (see his PT FAQ at bet-the-pot.com).

Get a good set of auto-rate rules (bison or drivett) and then start adding fish and calling stations to your buddy list.
