I think this article really screwed up my game

Are you sure you are in this game? I'm guessing you're not. If you're not, don't follow this advice. Bet the turn in a situation that he describes every time. Most opponents in my game ($2/4 to $5/10) would probably call down A hi here or any pair. In his game, his opponent would "probably fold JJ", that's not happening at $2/4 to $5/10.

Ignore his advice, unless you find yourself sitting down at a $80/160 game.

On the other hand, a small-blind reraise in my 2/4 game is unlikely to be some clever steal-reraise. Depending on the his raising standards the SB normally will have a big pair or AK in my game.

I would base my play strongly on the SBs potential range of hands, and generally speaking I would be quite fearful of being behind.

I think this article advises to play way too passively. The SB isolates the hero and the hero gets a great flop. Top Pair, no flush, no straight draw. Villian starts checking and now the author advocates checking as well because the pot is small? the pot is small because hero is playing passively.

I can't advocate checking the turn at $80/160 or $.50/1

Against the type of player the article is describing, this play isn't so bad. I've used it when I find myself heads up against a 2+2er in a similar situation b/c they are likely to fold when behind and checkraise when ahead.

Against your normal 2/4 or 3/6 opponent, checking the turn is a huge mistake b/c they will call anyway.

Read it again, starting with "Let’s look at the math in the pocket jacks case..."
