Default 77 vs T in H17 SD..

basic strategy engines say you stay on 77 = 14
vs. a dealer T

is this correct?

in single deck this is correct - because there are only two 7's left that can save your hand. 2 or more decks, hit as hard 14.

it would even be correct to late surrender 77 vs. T in single deck, though I can't think of any casino that would actually offer that.

If you are counting and have the skills to be a good BJ player, this is a play to avoid for exactly that reason. The "oddness" of it is assuredly a red flag to the pit.

Do it occasionally at the single deck tables, as long as you are making other plays that paint you as a "hunch" player.
