TPFAP covers topics that can be applied across any tournament - ie its not rules on how to play AA in early pos.

I don't know about Mcevoys book but I suspect its just holdem

McEvoy's book is exactly the opposite. It covers about 15 different games, each in separate chapters, including perennial favorites like Ace-5 Lowball and No Limit Deuce-Seven Draw. IMO, this alone makes it worth owning. There are several worthwhile chapters on tournaments on either end of the game-specific chapters in the middle, including a useful FAQ.

Sklansky's book (TPFAP) is also very good, but more general concepts that can be applied in any tournament.

If you insist on getting one or the other... well, think about what you're really looking for. McEvoy's book seems more polished and complete - but a lot of the information (the chapters on razz or lowball, for example) is useless to 95% of readers. Sklansky's book is more conceptual. I'd say get both - they complement each other.

Sklanskys book assumes you already know how to play the game well in cash games. His book tells you how to adjust to tournament play. I've never read the mcevoy book.

Excellent book and has the advantage of NOT being read by everyone and their sister yet so much of the advice will appear completely unique to you when you vitalize your game with it.
