Laptop recommendations ?
Any good recommendations for a laptop ? Anyone who has bought a laptop recently to play online poker may be ideal to respond to this question. I am looking to play 2 or 3 tables only at one time and wish to use pokertracker and gametime concurrently. I am not sure of are the minimum specs needed. I also wish to spend about 1500 to 1800 $ for it ( too less ???). Pleas advise.
Thank a lot to all the posters here for the huge amount and outstanding quality of poker advice. |

Re: Laptop recommendations ?
Sounds like you need a Sager or a Chembook. discountlaptops.com sells them. Get something that does 1600x1200, anything P4 w/512+MB of RAM should do the trick. My two year old Sager does online poker just fine (datamining 8 tables and playing 4 works great), the only problems I have with it are that it's hot and heavy.

Re: Laptop recommendations ?
I just purchased a Dell Inspiron 9200 and it is perfect for online poker. Has a 17" wuxga screen that does 1900x1200, plenty of power, and is priced in the range you specified. I would recommend waiting to find a coupon on techdeals though. I was able to use a 25% off coupon that saved me 600 bucks...

Re: Laptop recommendations ?
I really like my Dell 700m, but it's more of a travel laptop.

Re: Laptop recommendations ?
More ram is more important than the fastest CPU available. Any Pentium M should be more than enough.
If you're mostly going to use it at one location, you should see if the external video port is capable of acting as a 2nd display. Almost all laptops have an external video port, but on some it only mirrors the primary display. |
