Default fearing set over set

This hand was a while ago so my recollection is a little hazy. Me and opponent have stacks of 1.2k, 5/10 NL, I raise to $40, folded to him in BB he raises to $110 I call. (I have QQ). Flop is AQ5o, he bets $50. I got a read that he had a set of aces and I was pretty sure, if it wasn't that it was AK. What is your plan for the rest of this hand?

Raise the flop, check the turn and call a bet on the river. The worse thing you can do is fear set over set in nl.

Bruiser,

What made you so confident in your read? I guess the smallish, I want a call, preflop raise must have had something to do with it. Also, what did you make of the underbet on the flop? Isn't that TOO obvious of a trap? With what other hands would he only bet $50 with into a $225 pot? (KK ??)

Very interesting hand and read. Do you have any other information on your opponent?

235 in the pot and 990 left? my plan is to go broke. if he is really willing to underbet the whole way and you are very sure there is no other hand he will play this way you can probably save a little money on the hand.

as you know there are a lot more combinations of AK than there are of AA, 10:3 I believe.

come on brusier, fearing set over set with 120BB and no sick read? you are better than that. the plan should be to figure out how to get your whole stack in the center.

Here we go, went back into my PT database and found it:

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $10 BB (6 handed)

UTG ($1037.75)
Hero ($1480.75)
CO ($967)
Button ($126.50)
SB ($1114.25)
BB ($1310)

Preflop: Hero is MP with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. CO posts a blind of $15.
UTG folds, Hero raises to $50, CO (poster) folds, Button folds, SB raises to $120, BB folds, Hero calls $70.

Flop: ($265) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets $20, Hero raises to $200, SB raises to $380, Hero calls $180.

Turn: ($1025) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets $250, Hero raises to $660, SB calls $364.25 (All-In).

River: ($2299.25) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $2299.25

On the flop I thought he had AA but could have AK and was afraid of getting to showdown without stacking him if he had AK. As the hand went on I got progressively surer that he had AA. In retrospect, maybe it's better to just call because he'll value bet AK himself. As far as you guys analyzing this hand I'm asking you to accept my read that he has AA or AK and then suggest a line of play from there.

Also these bet sizes and the fact that the board is suited shows some more of how I got my read.

if you think he has AA fold, if you think he has AK raise, build a pot. too many cards could fall on the turn that might kill your action.

Obviously. I'm not sure which one he has though, so what plan should I adopt?

I like the one you took....you have position on him, and stacks are small enough to get it in on the turn...no reason to re-re-raise the flop, you might let him get away from AK too easily....let him lead into you on the turn and then push - just like it happened.....sorry if he showed you aces....
