Knowing your beat...
5/5 NL ($500 max buy-in). I am in LP with K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. A couple of limpers to me and I make it $30 to go (standard raise here). BB and one limper calls. (approx $100 in pot)
Flop comes 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Checked to me. I bet $100. BB calls, limper folds. (approx $300 pot) Turn A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] BB checks. I bet $150. BB goes all-in for an additional $200. As I am considering my move, BB says "You didn't like the turn... neither did I." I believed him and immediately put BB on a set. I even said "You are beating me with a set again." (referring to a big hand I played with him two weeks earlier that he won set-over-set -- this is the first time I had played at a table with him since.) He didn't respond. So the pot is laying me 3-1. Should this have been an auto-fold given the range of hands that could beat me? |

Re: Knowing your beat...
If you think you are behind it is an easy fold. In general it is a good idea to trust your instincts. There is a chance that he has a smaller overpair, but again trust your instincts.

Re: Knowing your beat...
I think you should've checked behind on the turn and called a reasonable bet on a non-diamond river.

Re: Knowing your beat...
I would think he said he didnt like the turn because he was more than likely in on Ax of diamonds and now just hit his top pair which in his mind is probably dominated by a strong ace that he puts you on. If he's on a set he's not scared of that ace. I also agree w/the check/call decision...did he show his hand?
