Re: Nut straight , Big river decision
You misplayed this hand. First off, fold preflop.
More importantly, why did you bet that river? Surely you must realize that your opponent can see the board of ATKTQ. What range of hands will he call you with? He can see that the board is paired. He can see that any J is a straight. Just check behind on that river. I am a little confused by your post, but if it was $200+ to you and only $100 in the pot, you should fold. That is why you simply don't bet that river. Check it down. Maybe you would have split the pot. Maybe you would have lost. I guess you'll never know now. If you bet and he folded, that would have been pointless too. CHECK BEHIND ON THE RIVER UNLESS YOU WELCOME A RAISE OR THE OPPONENT IS A CLUELESS CALLING STATION. Also, if you are in the SB, why is he acting before you after the flop??? |

<<<<(i checked on the flop and he bet)>>>>
That means you also miswrote what happened on the turn. This changes the whole hand. Of course you can not check behind on the river now (since you act first). I think leading out on the river and folding to his all-in is OK. At best you will be splitting the pot. If he is a sensible player, then he had a full house on the turn and smooth called you in order to trap. If he is not a sensible player, he could also have somthing like AJ or QQ. I'm not sure how you could put him on QQ. Would he call your lead turn bet with QQ? The board is AKTT and you have already check-called the flop. He should know he is behind there if he holds QQ. I think AA and KK are more likely than QQ. Once he has the full house (or quads), he doesn't fear any draw and is hoping to suck you in on the river. |
