Default Strategy for this type of tournament

Basically something like a super satellite(or a TEC tourny on UB, which I am about to play, and got me thinking) where everyone in the top 5 or 10% or whatever gets the same prize...I am assuming that you are just trying to sneak ITM and win a seat, because it doesn't matter if you go out right when you win a seat or if you get first(atcually it may be a better use of time to win a seat and quit, or is that a dumb thought?)

Anyways, is this type of strategy just the same basic NL tournament strategy, besides taking big risks on the bubble. I always hear that you should try to win, not just place...but it isn't worth taking risks when 1st prize is the same as 50th, right?

Any tips for this type of tournament would be appreciated. BTW, I am playing the TEC freeroll at UB, let me know if anyone else is playing.
