What odds do you need to get to compete from SB with a crappy hand like 2 4 off? after that, pretty standard? especially since the 7 on the turn makes 4 of my outs to a straight perhaps tainted, perhaps split.

I don't know if you saw my earlier reply but for offsuit 1-gaps, you need 6+ limpers to get this to break even. In this hand you had 3. It's no where near worth it. Worse than that you folded an OESD to a turn bet when the pot was giving you 4.5:1 with two left to act who might call. Unless you think BB or UTG will c/r you need to call this. Why play offsuit 1-gaps if you aren't going to play a str8 draw properly. Is it just for a chance of hitting a junky 2 pair?

1) Fold preflop: 42o sucks in every situation.

2) Bet the flop -- you have an OESD and you'll hit your draw 30% of the time or so, so with 5 opponents you need to put your chips in with this good pot equity.

3) Call the turn (if you'd bet the flop, you'd be getting even better odds to do so)

4) hit an A on the river, then you'll get action and clean up nice.
