is there anything i could have done agaisnt this odd call
3 Table 30 person Tourney
19 left chip average 1570 guy on my left has been calling me alot but i got a good handle on him post flop Seat 3 is the button Total number of players : 10 Seat 1: DukeOfSpades ( $3135 ) Seat 2: Mundos ( $1360 ) Seat 6: First_Rule ( $2315 ) Seat 7: keioffice ( $2420 ) Seat 8: JennyChu ( $1500 ) Seat 3: charlie4x4 ( $490 ) Seat 4: Any_97 ( $915 ) Seat 5: Trix_Rabbot ( $1340 ) Seat 9: rebuy13 ( $225 ) Seat 10: SCOTT501 ( $735 ) Trny:7914496 Level:5 Blinds (50/100) ** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to First_Rule [ Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ] First_Rule raises [300]. keioffice calls [300]. i don't know what he has here but i havn't seen this guy slow play JennyChu folds.rebuy13 folds. SCOTT501 folds. DukeOfSpades folds. Mundos folds. charlie4x4 folds. Any_97 folds. Trix_Rabbot calls [200]. ** Dealing Flop ** [ A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ] Trix_Rabbot checks. First_Rule bets [950]. keioffice calls [950]. my first impression was that he had AJ and the call here seems to confirm it .......... though upon reflection i think a bet about half this size would have been better as he migh have raised. But then again i probably would have called anything below a raise of 900 Trix_Rabbot folds. ** Dealing Turn ** [ 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ] i have to think i have him here or i would have been raised at some point First_Rule is all-In. keioffice calls [1065]. ** Dealing River ** [ 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ] First_Rule shows [ Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ] two pairs, aces and twos. keioffice shows [ K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ] two pairs, aces and twos. Player First_Rule finished in 19 place keioffice wins 4980 chips from the main pot with two pairs, aces and twos with king kicker. First_Rule has left the table. Game #1304458270 starts. i think my flop raise was too big as it didn't give the opertunity to reraise me. but with the blinds this high i can't see me not loosing evrything on this hand with him calling and a A72 rainbow flop |

Re: is there anything i could have done agaisnt this odd call
Certainly, the pre-flop raise was appropriate. You obviously are concerned about being called by AK but more often than not, especially online, AK would raise in this situation. Then if you're getting called on future rounds you can give some serious thought to shutting down.
There was no need to make a pot-size bet on the flop. This is a good flop for you and has no draws. So you are only behind AK, AA, and maybe 77. I doubt someone would call a raise with 22 but it's possible, especially from the blind. I would also doubt someone would call you with A7 or A2. You should make about a half pot-size bet here. What you want is to have someone with Ax to call you and by making a large bet that probably won't happen. If I get raised, I would give serious thought to folding since you showed strength pre-flop and on the flop and a raise would indicate at least AK. On the turn, you're definitely getting all your money in the pot since it's so large. Unfortunately, he had you dominated so you were in bad shape. Had you made a smaller bet on the flop you could have maybe made a smaller bet on the turn, but I think one way or another you were destined to lose here. So, other than the flop bet I think you played it the best you could have. |
