Did I screw up the flop bet here?
3/6 Poker Stars
me $600 villian $1200 I am in the bb with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. This is very first hand at the table. 3 limpers. Villian raises to $30 in cutoff. Button calls. I call. Flop is a real pretty Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]10[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check. Bad play? Early player pushes his $200. fold to villian who calls the $200. Now. I am guessing he has AA or KK. I think for awhile and push allin hoping he feels committed to the pot. He thinks for awhile and calls. I win. Set Qs over villians Set 7s. Lucky for me. However, if he had AA or KK he probably would have folded. So, I think the push for $400 more was bad. I am thinking a call and a lead turn bet of $200 is better. What is the correct line of play here? |

Re: Did I screw up the flop bet here?
How would you feel if another [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] hit on the turn or if it was a A, K, J etc... there's 490 in the pot, plus the 200 from your call making it 690 and you put the rest of your stack in for 400ish...so villian is getting a little better than 2:1, I don't think he'd fold AA/KK here, and you aren't going to fold the turn, I like it.

i would bet out here, try and get the short stack in, then maybe the villian will reraise or push with his big pair.
$90-120 sounds good here. |

How would you feel if another hit on the turn or if it was a A, K, J etc... [/ QUOTE ] also how would villian feel? granted the stacks are a little short for him to be getting away from much of anything in this particular hand (you would play a big draw this way right?), i still think you shouldn't give a scare card the chance to ruin your action. |
