The $50,000 call
There was a hand in last nights Party $million Guaranteed that involved our 2+2'er DVC. It was talked about in the tournament thread, but I thought it deserved it's own thread here. THere is very little doubt it guaranteed him a final table, and ultimately $50K. I couldn't have made the call though, and I wonder who else could.
I'm doing this from memory I can't remember the exact amounts, if someone has them please correct me. 4 tables left. EP goes all-in for his last 30K. Player on his left comes over the top for his last 100K. Player on his left calls all-in for his last 100K. DVC has 100K as well and AKs. He calls. I thought for sure AA or KK had to be out there, and would not have called, I'm not sure I could call with KK, and I would have folded QQ. In fact I was positive DVC had AA when he called. THe hands were in fact, 88, AQ, QQ and AKs. A king on the river gave DVC the monster chip lead. If the cards were face up, his call is actually correct...just. I ran the hands and he came out as 35% to win and he was getting around 3.5 to 1 on his money, but if AA or KK were out there, he's drawing pretty thin. Who makes the call? |

Re: The $50,000 call
I would have folded pretty quickly here, the cards that his opponents held were definitely the best case scenario. Assuming the third guy who made the all in call is a decent player, I would put him on pretty much only QQ-AA. In his his situation I only would have called with KK and AA.

Re: The $50,000 call
im folding here, i thought for sure he had AA also, but it worked out.
its so strange, because its one of those situations where he made the right move, its just so unbelievable that it could have possibly been the right move. |

Re: The $50,000 call
against these specific hands its right, but just barely. against the range of hands that he's up against here i cant imagine that the call is right.

Re: The $50,000 call
I'm glad it worked out for him here, but the range of hands that MP2 has is QQ, KK, and AA, maybe AKs (as we saw by DVC's call).
He's barely getting the right price against the three hands he was up against, but change any of them to AA or KK and he's not getting the right price. Even changing AQ to AK might be enough to change the numbers. Would've been a good fold, I'm sure the guy with QQ thought so after that river. WJ |

I fold and then cry for a long time when I see the outcome.
