Interesting bubble situation
I'm playing in the freeroll at PokerRoom this morning, and an interesting situation comes up. The tournament pays the top 45, there's about 50 left, and I'm in position 45 or so -- right on the bubble. Everyone's gone into their shells trying not to be the poor bastard who ends up in position 46.
I'm UTG. I've got enough to survive this round of blinds and maybe the next if we don't get a level jump (which, given the pace, is pretty likely to happen). But I'm almost positive that I'll make the money if I can survive this set of blinds and the next. The cards are dealt, and you guessed it: AA What would you do? What would you do?! |

Re: Interesting bubble situation
what better opportunity to make some real cash. go for it, all-in, pray for multi-way pot, to be odds on favorite to put yourself in top 15, with 50 to go.

Re: Interesting bubble situation
if youre really that worried about getting cracked b4 the money seats...going all in isnt that smart for several reasons, imo.
say two kings flop, youre cracked and done.. i would say to limp in and see what flops, slowplay and trap anyone, depending on the board and the players..say two 10 come out.. you might wanna think about laying down if a 'rock' is betting the hand. or what i think i might really do is go in for a generous raise, drive out some ppl,and see where it goes. so...tell us..what ended up happenning? |

Re: Interesting bubble situation
If you can't move all-in with aces, don't play the game.
On a side note, I nominate sliide's response for the stupidest post of the year. Rick Diesel |

Re: Interesting bubble situation
If you are worried about busting out its an auto-allin, people are worried about busting and most likely you will just scoop up the blinds, if you get called you are a really big favorite to win and advance to bigger money

Re: Interesting bubble situation
Actually, what I did was a little weird. I was much more concerned about making the money than setting myself up to have a shot at the final table, because I had an appointment to go to fairly soon, so I knew at some point before the final table I'd have to sit out, get in the car and let myself be blinded out.
In order to make the money, I felt it was essential to steal the blinds, but I didn't want to take any serious risk of getting loose called by a big stack and sucked out on. So what I did was announce to the table I had AA and went all in. My reasoning was that I would almost certainly get the blinds, guaranteeing me an in the money finish, and if I did get called, it would almost certainly be a call by a vastly inferior hand from a big stack that thought I was full of it. Thus, I think the play was optimal for making the money. As it happened, I stole the blinds, showed the hand, and made the money. |

Re: Interesting bubble situation
worst thing i have ever heard, unless this was a satalite where all 45 paid the same amount of money you would have been much better off pushing and hoping for a call so you call post and fold your way to a higher money spot if need be. Plus this is cheating. and a terrible poker play.
