was this the right call/ odds?
I'm playing a small tourney with a few friends. I make it to the last two. My opponent has about 70% of all the chips. Blinds are $5 and $10 at this point. I started chipping away at him by bluffing quite a bit and stealing the blinds. I'm getting bad cards. Finally I get dealt A-Q offsuit. Neither of us raise pre-flop (I probably should have) The flop comes K-Q-J with a rainbow. I check to him. He goes all in.
Now I'm thinking here he has made a pair of kings. He would not go all in otherwise (he has too much to lose from doing so) although he sometimes does make some reckless plays. Now, I call him, figuring I have about 9 outs. He turns over a K-5. Turn and river don't help me and I'm done. My questions are (forgive me, I'm still a novice) 1) Did I calculate my outs correctly? 2) Feeling fairly sure that he has top pair on the flop, should I have called him? 3) Should I have raised before the flop? 4) What are my odds of winning this? Thanks for the help. |
