How to Play Trip Kings
I have been playing SNGs on line for about 2 years and have just started playing 1/2 NL. I am still new to playing poker so I am looking for advice on how I should have played this hand after the flop:
I pick up K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]under the gun in a full ring game and raise $7. I got five callers (this suprised me because I had been playing at this table for about an hour and so far there had been only two or three seeing a flop) The flop came: K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] SB check, BB check and I bet$35 (which was the size of the pot minus the rake). My thinking was that I did not want anyone drawing to a flush or str8 without paying for it and I figured the pot was already pretty good with all those callers. I discussed this with my son and he said I should have slowplayed this hand. Please advise. |

There's no reason to slowplay this.

Re: How to Play Trip Kings
i agree. i've been burned too many times by slowplaying top set on a draw intensive board, especially against multiple opponents. if the flop had come K 8 2 rainbow, a slowplay would be the better play.

Re: How to Play Trip Kings
If you raise under the gun and get a flop like this and check, everyone will think you are slowplaying anyway. You will fool no one.
Betting the pot is good. This is a draw-heavy board. Heck, you could probably bet $50 here and see what happened. |
