Well, I thought the decent LCD choices for multi-tabling were limited to the Dell and the Samsung, but it appears there's a third contender.
But here's another one that Newegg is having on sale for $879, plus another $100 off, a Sony: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...T=SONYSDM-S204 It's 20.1 inches, and does 1600x1200 as its native resolution, and priced midway between the Samsung and the Dell(when the Dell is on sale, which is often). Response time is 25 ms, slower than the dell and equal to the samsung, I think. |

There are tons more but they are all a couple hundred bucks more expensive than dell. A few have slightly better picture quality but none is faster as far as I know. |

The electronics on the Dell are amazing. The price is amazing. No wonder they are the largest monitor and LCD seller in the world.

I've seen more expensive ones, and I've seen ones that don't do 1600x1200, but can't remember the last time I saw one that did 1600x1200 for near the Dell/Samsung prices.

I have the Dell and it can't be beat for the price. Get it when its on sale, you won't be sorry (the USB ports make it a winner, too)

Is there a general consensus that the Dell 2001FP is the one to get? I'm definitely going to buy a new monitor (Christmas present to myself) and have been having dificulty deciding between the Dell and a Samsung. One problem with the Dell that I read on an earlier post in a different thread was that it's height was adjustable low enough. Has anbody experienced that problem?
Also, I just read a good review of a ViewSonic, so now I'm even worse off for deciding. Please help me make a decision! Thanks. Kellon |

Everybody here is very sold on the Dell. You can get it for hundreds of dollars less than the Samsung, for one thing. It has faster response time too, so you won't see "ghosting" as easily if you're playing games with a lot of movement -- not poker for sure, but say something like Doom3, an action game.
The Dell does seem to have inferior color reproduction, but that doesn't seem to bother most people considering the price. People who have gotten the Samsung, on the other hand, don't seem to be posting that they've regretted that either. It's top quality for top price. It rarely goes on a significant sale that I've seen advertised, or at newegg.com, which is where I look when I'm curious. The Dell goes on sale every other week it seems, bring its price down from an original $975 or so to something a little under or over $600 fairly frequently. You'll be happy either way, so I guess the decision depends on how much you value your money and whether you're a gamer. If you're a gamer, the Dell is the obvious choice. But you don't need a good response time to play poker. Personally, I like the idea of spending $200-300 to wind up with two CRT's instead of a third or a half of an LCD, at best, much more than either LCD alternative. |
