Identity theft occurs when someone uses your personal information such as your name, Social Security number, credit card number or other identifying information, without your permission

Re: Fossilman an affiliate? or Identity theft?
Yeah but when you become famous you lose at least a little of that privacy. I've seen the name moneymaker000 or helmuth73, etc all the time on various poker sites. You wouldn't say they are stealing either Chris Moneymaker's or Phil Helmuth's name would you?

Re: Fossilman an affiliate? or Identity theft?
It depends on the context in which the name is used though. Calling yourself Greg Raymer or Moneymaker on Stars isn't likely to confuse people (as their handles/locations are generally well known anyway).
This, however, is a little different and, for me, crosses the line. This is a guy claiming to be an internet pro player making recommendations on what to play whilst spamming his affiliate code. The Amazon site is not a specialist poker site so its easily conceivable that someone could confuse him for the real Fossilman (especially if they can't spell fossil). Consequently, I tend to agree with the original poster on this one. Sheriff |

It is unethical and amazon would remove it if the real Raymer complained.
