Default Finding a Private Coach

Does anyone have any recommendations for finding a private poker coach?

Yes, use the search function for the several threads from the past two weeks about this very subject.

I've used Bob Ciaffone with some success. If you don't know who he is, he's very well respected and is the author of a couple of must read books. You can go to his website at http://www.pokercoach.us/.

Bob charges $100 for 2 hours of instruction. That instruction is primarily hand analysis via e-mail or phone (although I believe e-mail is preferred). You send him some hands you have questions on, and he responds with his thoughts and comments.

He also provides you with a copy of one of his books at no charge (your choice and I would highly recommend Pot and No-Limit Hold Em if you haven't read it), in addition to other material including a few chapters from his upcoming book.

With that said, I think you'll get a tremendous amount of help by posting hands to this board. You'll get a variety of perspectives and there is some serious talent here. Bob is great, but he does play a more traditional strong / tight and aggressive style. I think that's an excellent approach when starting out but you definitely need to learn how to handle the typical maniacs we run across these days.

Good luck.
