Default What to to when you think you\'re beat with bad position?

Hi!
One of my consistent problems is playing borderline hands post flop, with bad posittion. Often when I think I may be beat I want to get a showdown as cheap as possible. What is the best way of doing that? In the example below I really want to check the river, I don't want to put any more into this pot, but I don't see how I can get away from it. My other concerns in this hand is if my limp PF is correct. I find ATo a very difficult hand to play and I mostly fold from early position, and sometimes from mp. I also question my big raise on the turn. I really fear a set here but I'm not sure, so my main goal is to se a showdown as cheap as possible. If i check or make a to small a bet I'm afraid someone will force me out of the pot. I really didn't know what to do. Critisize me. BTW, both of my opponents have me covered. I have no read, but they might think I'm a frequent bluffer since I stole 2 pots on the flop the last orbit without showing, with opening bets of about 3 BB.

I'm confused as to why you think you're beat here. You have top two with only gutshots possible and no flush draws. Flop looks good. Turn you probably want to bet more. Both players showed strength on the flop, but your hand is still very strong. A bet of at least 15 here and maybe even all-in would be much better.

I'm not sure what the river card is, it didn't come out in the history there. Was it the Jd? Anyways, the pot is absolutely too big for you to fold, and the only question is whether you think he'll still call with a worse hand. Hard to think he stuck around with a king, so just push your money in and hope to get called by a worse hand.

As far as ATo goes, it's a crap hand in NL. You should be mucking it from EP and MP, and even in LP if there's already a few limpers. AT will play best against very few players, so it's ok to play it in LP if no one is in the pot yet. Remember big unsuited cards in NL are trouble hands and should be played cautiously. After the flop in this case though your hand is very strong and should be played agressively for you stack.

justin said it well - muck pre-flop (AJo should get folded there too, IMO), pot the flop as you did, and push the turn.

there's ~28 in the pot and you only have ~21 left. just push. if an ace called the flop, it'll call the turn push.

Sorry. The river was 2c, so it was nothing to worry about. Isnīt anyone worried that one of the opponents is slow playing a set. I would probably play a set just like they did, I would probably push in position on the turn though. And it was as I suspected, I never really liked limping with A T o cause even the times I flopped ace theres really nothing to do with it since the bad kicker.

Thanks for the advice

The best way is to avoid building borderline hands in bad position.

You can be worried if you want, but what can you do here? You can't play if you are going to be scared of players whenever they call you. Usually weak means weak. Worry when they indicate strength.
