Does multitabling stunt poker growth?
There's no question you can make more money by playing more tables at once. What impact does this have on your long-term growth as a poker player, though?

Re: Does multitabling stunt poker growth?
Yes -- I am specifically delaying moving up to 3/6 because I am running so well (and making so much) multi-tabling 2/4.

Re: Does multitabling stunt poker growth?
I voted yes, when I'm multitabling I tend to have automatic responses to certain situations instead of thinking them through.

Re: Does multitabling stunt poker growth?
I voted yes. But overall I think my growth today as a poker player is still faster than it could have been at any previous point in history. (Mostly due to 2+2, forum and books combined.)

Re: Does multitabling stunt poker growth?
Yes int the area of playing your opponent. However you gain experience with situations faster by multi-tabling.
To take this question 1 step further there are live skills that are stunted by playing only online such as making/remembering mental noted on opponents and picking up tells. Like life there are trade offs. If a hold'em pro dedicates time to improve his stud game his Hold'em game doesn't improve during that time and may even develop a little rust. |

As for the question, I answered no because while multitabling you're getting so many hands in that you learn a ton that way. I guess though there are tradeoffs, like not picking up many opponent specific plays. |

Re: Does multitabling stunt poker growth?
It does, but the question is growth for what? The $2-4, $5-10, and $15-30 PP games are different enough that I'm not terribly interested in the growth I'm missing out on by not really studying $2-4. I want to get bankrolled for the games I do need to study as quickly as possible. That means multitabling.
As far as getting used to common scenarios, I think you can learn that a lot faster by running into them 3 - 4 x as often... |

Re: Does multitabling stunt poker growth?
I checked no.
But I think it may slow your overall growth, but not stunt it. I think it also depends upon how many tables. I only play (2) tables at once (Don't know if this is even considered multi-tabling), and I still have plenty of time to review my options. I think in my case it may even be speeding my development. Now If I was trying to do 4-5 tables... then it might be a different story. |

Re: Does multitabling stunt poker growth?
I've been 8-tabling for a few weeks now and my mind and my mouse is just on cruise control.

Yup, cruise control is nice
I've been 8 tabling for about 5 months now and even that gets boring sometimes. You definitely get used to it. Ponks |
